About

A lively character, a multifaceted personality

Scholar, poet, broadcaster, editor, banker — one life, several callings.

Dr. Charanjeet Singh is a distinguished scholar and a supremely gifted poet, with a rare command over Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. He is, at once, an excellent speaker, an editor, and a banker — each role folded into the next without contradiction.

He handles complex subjects with an unusual mastery over words and a style distinctly his own. His poetry rises from the soul to touch the soul of the listener; readers across languages, cultures and official backgrounds find themselves inside his lines — the true mark of a writer whose work speaks past its borders.

He is a regular speaker on All India Radio, and works as a Chief Manager in a Public Sector Bank. He also served as editor of the Bank's House Journal, which was awarded the coveted Maya Ram Surjan Foundation Award for excellence in publication — twice over.

Dr. Singh is a postgraduate in Hindi and Punjabi literature, and holds a Ph.D. in Hindi literature. He has written extensively across wide-ranging themes, though romance, love and suffering remain his forte. In his work he explores the psyche of women — their emotions and the sufferings they undergo and, in turn, sometimes inflict on others — a difficult subject, handled with rare patience.
